KNOLL

BERTOIA SHELL CHAIR

WestEdge Los Angeles had aligned with Knoll and La La Magazine to support Safe Place for Youth (SPY) with an auction of one-of-a-kind Knoll Bertoia shell chairs. 

​

I was one of the 15 designers / artists chosen for Take A Seat With Knoll Auction to make my own version of the Bertoia Chair.

My version of the Bertoia shell chair is upholstered with wooden legs. 

​

It uses Kvadrat 100% wool felt for the upholstery of the shell seat. The base is made of walnut wood. It has a triangular cross-section and has been milled out on a CNC machine. 

​

The combination of wood and felt gives it a contemporary feel reminding us of the designer Harry Bertoia and his creation forever.
